The Office of the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator and CDC partnered with marketing industry leader McCann Health to develop innovative approaches to reach males with lifesaving information about voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC): a one-time, low cost procedure shown to reduce men’s risk of HIV infection by approximately 60 percent and help prevent cervical cancer-causing infections in their female partners. Cardno managed Phase 1 of the partnership.
During Phase 1, McCann conducted pre-market planning, developed a strategic approach, and created innovative campaigns as part of the development of communications plans for South Africa. Communications plans that were created targeted the increased demand for VMMC in South Africa, as well as to introduce PrePex, the new device created for non-surgical circumcisions.
